The Apple iPad

Apple iPad, the word on everybody’s lips these past few days. Some are bragging about its marvelous capabilities and others are saying that it’s ridiculous. So who is right? I will explain, and you will see that iPad has a purpose, although it’s not for me. I may as well be one of the guys that say it’s ridiculous, but I think I have a neutral point of view, and I find the iPad kind of cute.

For those who are not familiar why all the commotion, it’s just a new tech stuff out there, well it’s more than that. What it comes down to is the hate between Apple and Microsoft lovers. I myself prefer Apple, but I use Windows, or Linux, but somehow I always choose to be on the Apple side, well I’m neutral on this one because it doesn’t concern me. Basically all Microsoft fans are saying that iPad is slow, has low capacity and it’s just a toy. Well they are right, it’s basically an oversized cell phone, a half breed between a cell phone and a laptop, but that doesn’t make it a bad thing.

What you need to understand is that iPad wasn’t made for users like me, the ones that live of their computers and spend all day on the Internet. I make money that way, iPad is meant for an average user that has little knowledge about computers, and it’s perfect for them because it’s easy to use. A child could use an iPad after 2 minutes. So if you look at it that way iPad has a target consumer and it’s going to sell like crazy, especially with that price. An average computer user doesn’t need a high performing processor, an average user wants to watch a movie, read a book, surf the web causally to find the info he is looking for. So to say it again, iPad is perfect for those kinds of people.

1GHz processor and 64GB capacity is not going to hold back a person that doesn’t care about high performing teach as long as the computer he has gets the job done. And iPad gets the job done; it’s pretty optimized for such low components. But it has one thing no other laptop has, an on-screen keyboard with a touch interface that everybody is going crazy about. Even if you don’t like it you can always add a Bluetooth keyboard to it. It has a great battery that can hold up to 10 hours of working on the iPad. Meaning you can browse the web, watch movies, and listen to music for 10 hours straight. There are all sorts of other features iPad has to offer and I am sure an average guy is going to love them, so I say live and let live.

The only question left is where to buy it. The prices are great, $499 for a basic model and $829 for a top range model, it already has the best price, but the issue is when will the rest of the world be able to buy it? I hope soon, because my girlfriend is already killing me to buy her one.
