Bulimia or Anorexia?

What is the difference between bulimia and anorexia? I’ve heard these terms but really don’t know what they mean. And, if someone has one of these eating disorders are them mentally ill or is it a genetic thing? I am really interested in all of this because I am a freshman in college and just switched my major to psychology. I really want to know what makes people tick and in psych 101 it seems like I am learning quite a bit about it. I guess I want to learn more about myself. I am interesting in these food problems because I know a bunch of my dorm mates seem obsessed with it.
