The spoken form of Australian English sometimes includes use of ‘slang’. These original Australian expressions can at times be very confusing for non-native speakers. Understanding types of slang and how to learn them will help you to start speaking like a real “Aussie”.

Listen to native Australian speakers when they talk. When you come across a new expression, write it down. Try to remember the context you heard it in as this will give you a clue about the meaning.
